Mission-Driven Use Of Technology To Enhance The Virtual Classroom Experience

In keeping with SMC’s Lasallian teaching mission, which requires that pedagogy dictate the choice of technology adoption, the Hybrid EMBA program chose to adopt a web-conferencing platform with separate audio technology, to support a seamless online experience for its students. The Adobe Connect web-conferencing platform incorporated an exclusive audio technology, to allow for separate virtual engagement from the audio capabilities, for uninterrupted access to the real-time, synchronous online session. Faculty go through a proprietary 5 week training program to expertly navigate technology in the ‘flipped’ online classroom; thus, the sessions are highly interactive, as compared to asynchronous interactions.
