As part of a pilot program which implemented new educational technologies in hybrid courses at Saint Mary’s College of California, we utilized and assessed several new methods, including screen capture, webinars, pre-recorded lectures, and interactive smart board functions. These technologies were implemented in several courses during our 2015 January Term, from both science and art disciplines within our curriculum. In particular, we used Snagit, a multi-platform screen capture software produced by TechSmith, to create high-quality voice-graded assignment feedback in two very different courses: an upper-division Mathematics course (Abstract Algebra) and an upper-division Biology course (The Biology of Sex, Love, and Attraction).
